CEPI -Design, facilitation, and moderation of a global event on research preparedness in West Africa, (Abuja) 

Summary: In collaboration with the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness, we led the design and in-person delivery of a global meeting on research preparedness for Lassa disease in West Africa, in addition to moderation of a panel discussion during the meeting 

Approach: Beginning with a landscape analysis, to understand the research preparedness context. Following this and in collaboration with a meeting steering committee, a series of bilateral discussions with key networks conducting clinical trials were used to understand critical gaps in clinical trial capacity within sub-Saharan Africa and define the focus of the meeting

Outcome:  The global meeting in Abuja Nigeria, brough over 300 delegates from across sectors together in a 3-day meeting, hosted by CEPI in collaboration with WHO and NCDC on Vaccine Preparedness. During this meeting, Emi also served as a moderator for a panel discussion explore core pre, during and post-trial requirements to achieve end-to-end vaccine development in resource limited settings.
